EXAMPLES OF PAINT-A-BOX STREET ART IN BELFAST - URBAN EXPRESSION 2022

Paint-A-Box street art in Belfast City is a project that began in 2019 with the Belfast Canvas program, supported by Belfast City Council. It involves painting utility boxes owned by the Department for Communities and Virgin Media with colourful and creative designs.

The project aims to:

Enhance the urban landscape: By transforming dull, grey utility boxes into vibrant works of art, the project adds colour and character to the city streets.

Support local artists: The initiative provides a platform for local artists to showcase their talent and contribute to the city's artistic expression.
Engage the community: The project encourages community involvement by incorporating local themes and stories into the artwork, fostering a sense of pride and ownership among residents.
Promote creativity: The project encourages creative expression and inspires others to explore their artistic talents.

Many artists have participated in the project, including Danni Simpson and Rob Hilken. They have created diverse artwork, ranging from abstract patterns to portraits and landscapes, all contributing to the unique visual identity of Belfast City.
