John Kindness

John Kindness (born 1951) is a renowned Irish artist known for his unique and humorous approach to art. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he graduated from the Belfast College of Art and now lives and works in London. His work spans a range of media, including sculpture and painting, and often contrasts material, image, and reference in an unusual and humorous way.

Kindness's work is characterized by its contrast of the domestic and static association of tiling with dynamic and epic subjects. He is also known for his use of tiles in sculpture. His work suggests that the residues of contemporary life will be the artefacts of the future.
