MAYNOOTH IS A UNIVERSITY TOWN

MAYNOOTH ACTUALLY IN COUNTY KILDARE

There are two third-level educational institutions – St Patrick's College, founded under King George III in 1795 to train Ireland's Roman Catholic clergy, and Maynooth University, separated from St. Patrick's College in 1997 – located in the town. They share campus space and many facilities. Maynooth University is the only university in the Republic of Ireland not situated in a city.

Over the years public transport in Dublin has improved, even if the pace of change can be slow. Up until about a year ago getting from my home to Maynooth took a lot of time but there have been two changes that have made the journey much easier and quicker. The Green Line Tram service was extended to Broombridge and the frequency of the trains [passing through Broombridge] between Dublin city and Maynooth has increased and there is one in both direction every thirty minutes.

This morning it took me four minutes to walk to the Broadstone Tram stop, after three minutes the tram arrived and it took it twelve minutes to reach Broombridge and I only had to wait about four minutes for a train to arrive. It took another thirty three minutes to reach Maynooth.
