GRAND CANAL STREET LOWER

Some consider Hogan Place to be just an extension of Lower Grand Canal Street.

Back in 1981 I lived in an apartment within a commercial office block owned by Hertz at Hogan Place on Lower Grand Canal Street. There were three apartments but I was the only resident and it could be very lonely at night and especially at long weekends. Also, there were many issues resulting from anti-social activity in the area.

At one stage I was offered the ownership of my apartment for £14,000 or the three apartments for £40,000 [an amazing bargain at the time] but after considering the legal problems associated with owning apartments in a commercial complex I decided against buying.
