A boozer would normally describe someone how drinks to access but here in Ireland it would normally be a pub rather than a person. I recently came across the following description: “The boozer” is a term for drinking premises where the clientele are in the “dedicated drinker” category – often focused on a small screen or two permanently showing horse races.
