I DID NOT REALISE THAT THIS BUILDING WAS STILL IN USE

I was highly amused when I checked online and discovered that it actually was reviewed and universally awarded on star and described as a “kip”.

The Swords District Courthouse is located at 4 North Street, Swords, County Dublin, Ireland. It is a cut limestone building that was designed by Alexander Tate and was built in 1845. The courthouse is a Grade A protected structure.

The Swords District Courthouse hears a variety of cases, including criminal, civil, and family law cases. It also hears cases under the Mental Health Act and the Children Act.

The courthouse is open from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. The public can access the courthouse during these hours.

BRIDGE STREET IN SWORDS AND A SMALL GREEN SPACE

Some maps show the park as being Town Park but I believe that Town Park is a much larger public park attached to the Castle and some people have told me that the park on Bridge Street is referred to as the Green and there is a notice that appears to support this claim.

The actual bridge on Bridge Street is described as follows: “Single-arch bridge over river, c.1875. Rock faced limestone ashlar walls with margined rock faced cut-limestone chamfered stringcourses supporting benchmark-inscribed parapets having margined tooled cut-limestone “saddleback” coping. Single segmental arch with margined rock faced limestone ashlar voussoirs. Sited spanning Ward River with overgrown grass banks to river. A plaque commemorates Peter Wilson (d. 1916) ‘Who Gave His Life For Irish Freedom In The Rising Of Easter Week 1916’.”
