BUST OF MICHAEL COLLINS

BUST OF MICHAEL COLLINS AT ITS ORIGINAL LOCATION [WAS LATER RELOCATED WITHIN MERRION SQUARE PARK]

I think that this is ugly especially as the mouth appears distorted.

This photograph dates from May 2015 and at a later date the statue was relocated within the park as were most of the other statues. The old lamp standards, a feature of the park, were removed.

Michael Collins (1890-1922) was an Irish revolutionary leader. He died during the Civil War that followed the Irish War of Independence.

Collins was one of the team that negotiated the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1921. He was chairman of the Provisional Government and, during the Civil War, commander-in-chief of the government forces. This portrait bust was commissioned by the Fine Gael political party marking the centenary of Collins’s birth in 1990.

The sculptor Dick Joynt was an artist who had trained as a painter and turned to sculpture after joining the Dublin Art Foundry in 1972. He travelled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexi- co during the 1960s before returning to Ireland and setting up ‘Craan Studios.’ Father of artist Rachel Joynt, he received numerous commissions for public sculptures throughout his career.

I USE THIS AND IT IS ALREADY FULL

One of the biggest ongoing problems that I have is storage and the problems gets worse by the year. 4 Years ago I purchased two LaCie 8TB thunder bolt drives and eighteen months later I purchased a 12TB drive and then in August of 2019 I needed a 20TB unit and it is already full. I do have an aggressive backup policy which does require a lot of storage so i suppose that I should not be surprised. I should mention that I use Amazon Photos and currently am using 12TB of online storage.

I REALLY DO NEED A SOLUTION
