A few years ago I went on a guided walking tour of the Grand Canal and according to the guide in 1861 a horrible tragedy occurred at La Touche Bridge when a horse drawn bus plunged into the Grand Canal killing 6 passengers. The conductor was rescued by a passing policeman.
The 3D Christmas tree at the Barge Pub, Charlemont Mall, was carefully crafted with whiskey bottles, which are individually lit and pixel mapped with the latest LED technology.
According to Irish Distillers: "The Jameson Christmas Tree at The Barge is a beautifully crafted installation by our brand experience agency Nineyards and presents Jameson in a really iconic way in our home market."
CHARLEMONT MALL CHARLEMONT BRIDGE TO LA TOUCHE BRIDGE
Today I walked along the Grand Canal from Charlemont Street to Portobello as it was a beautiful day as you can see from my photographs. I then decided to continue on to Brighton Square via Rathmines which was really buzzing as if it was Christmas.
Charlemont Bridge connects Charlemont Street and Ranelagh Road and many know the bridge as Ranelagh Bridge.
Most people in Dublin would be unaware that what the refer to as Portobello Bridge is actually named La Touche Bridge named after William Digges La Touche, a director of the Grand Canal Company. The bridge was built in 1791 but much of the steel was replaced in 2004.
I lived and worked here for three or four years and also attended a nearby school for ten years and I have always liked the area but when I was young Wilton Place and Wilton Terrace was to be avoided, at night, as it was a very active red light area.

I HAVE THIS AND THE 135mm LENS
VERSATILE FULL-FRAME LENS: The powerful lens for the mirrorless full-frame system of Sony fulfills the highest requirements. Despite its compact design, the image meets the expectations of professional photographers. EXCELLENT RESOLUTION AND HIGH CONTRAST: Richly saturated and vivid colours are a must in the creation of lasting impressions. However, stray light within an optical system leads to a lightening of the image that is particularly noticeable in the shadows. This reduces image contrast, with the result that exposures lack contrast and appear faded. To avoid this, ZEISS combines various specially developed technologies to reduce the undesirable effects of stray light. ROBUST AND WEATHERPROOF METAL CONSTRUCTION: Thanks to features that are designed to keep out dust and spray water, the lens is perfectly suited for critical outdoor conditions. It is also designed for many years of intensive use. SMOOTH AND RELIABLE AUTOFOCUS: The design of the autofocus system requires an extremely accurate shifting of particular lens groups. The focusing system of ZEISS lenses is designed to ensure a robust and smooth-running autofocus mechanism with the best imaging performance.
