WHY IT CLOSED

I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WHEN THIS CLOSED

At one stage myself and a group of friends had lunch here every Wednesday but unfortunately it closed so we switched to another restaurant. We now have lunch at Eatokyo on Capel Street.

Swai was a Malaysian restaurant located on North Wall Quay in the Dublin Docklands. It was known for its modern glass building with views of the River Liffey and its innovative Malaysian cuisine.

Here are some details about Swai:

Location: It was situated at the end of North Wall Quay, overlooking the River Liffey.
Cuisine: Swai specialised in Malaysian cuisine, offering a wide range of dishes with authentic flavours.
Closure: The restaurant closed in 2013 due to a combination of factors, including:
Anti-social behaviour in the area. Reports of young people jumping from the restaurant's roof into the Liffey, which garnered negative media attention.

The extension of the Luas Red Line to The Point Depot (now 3Arena) in 2009 did contribute to the decline in foot traffic along the North Wall Quay. This change in pedestrian flow, combined with the other factors we discussed, ultimately made it difficult for Swai to sustain its business.

Despite its closure, Swai is remembered for its unique architectural design and its contribution to the culinary scene in Dublin's Docklands. There are numerous online reviews and blog posts documenting people's experiences at the restaurant, reflecting its popularity during its time.
