In Rathfarnham, the general area, there were several paper mills, one at the bottom of Church Lane, which ran from the village of Rathfarnham, down to the river Dodder, in front of Woodview cottages. It was first established by William Lake of Rathfarnham, in 1719 but later taken by over by William and Thomas Slater.
Church Lane is a street in the village of Rathfarnham, in South Dublin, Ireland. It is a short lane off of Main Street, and is home to a number of businesses but it is dominated by the Church Of Ireland parish church.
History records a timber parish Church in Rathfarnham in 1212 AD. Later a stone Church was built on the site and the ruins remain today, 40 metres north of the present Church. In 1779/80 a decision was made to build a new Church as the congregation grew in numbers.
