DRURY STREET APRIL 2023
I have been a big fan of the Asia Market ever since they established on Drury Street in Dublin.
Asia Market’s history can be traced back to a time when digital technology had not yet emerged. It started as a single entity in Dublin’s Drury Street in 1981 offering ethnic food to the growing Asian population in the Republic of Ireland. It became a supermarket where customers could come and pick their desired food items, pay at the counter and drive back to home … now they can but online, but I will continue to visit the actual shop.
My sister operated a few fashion shops before moving to New York and she visited Drury Street almost every day as the street was associated with the city’s “rag trade” as buildings along the street became associated with the design and manufacture of clothes. Today the street is home to many good restaurants.
