THIS IS A NEW ROUTE THROUGH TULLY PARK WHICH IS ALSO NEW
To be honest the extent of the development in Cherrywood and nearby caught me by surprise when I visited Tully Church today [5 September 2023] and the camera that I had with me was not really suitable so I plan to return next week and get a better feel for the general area … I suspect that it will require a number of visits.
The general area is now being referred to as Cherry Lane or CherryWood Village. Below is a description by the developer:
Cherry Lane is much more than just high quality new homes. It is creating the beating heart of Cherrywood Village, by establishing a community and lifestyle that residents can relate to and meet the aspirations of the public and family life.
It achieves this through the aspirational character of the homes which includes dynamic roofscapes and facades, complemented by tree lined streets and amenity areas. Cherry Lane provides green and wellbeing amenities, excellent connectivity to public transport and permeability between neighbourhoods via cycle routes and green links.
The scheme includes 27 acres of parks and green spaces, 4,300sqm of retail and civic amenities, and it is near large employers such as Vodafone and Microsoft in Sandyford, and Dell and Elavon at the Cherrywood Science and Technology Park.
The biggest park to date for the new town of Cherrywood in South Dublin is being developed. Tully Park will be part of a major strategic development in the area which will contribute to the economic growth of the county through the development of a vibrant residential and economic community anchored around a town centre. The park will act as a recreational space, and the plan is to create a high profile, high quality and distinctive flagship park with a range of visitor attractions and diverse active and passive recreational facilities. Schedule of provision to be informed by the current Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Open Space Strategy and local needs at the planning application stage but may include e.g. flagship playground, local pitches, courts, tea-rooms, toilets, public art, litter bins, street furniture, interpretation. The development of Tully Park shall be appropriate to the tranquil character and setting of the cluster of national monuments at its centre. The mature trees in the vicinity of the Tully Church complex shall be retained in so far as possible. (ref 1, 3, 5)
My understanding is that Tully Park is the largest park to date for the new town of Cherrywood. The will be part of a major strategic development in the area which will contribute to the economic growth of the county through the development of a vibrant residential and economic community anchored around a town centre. It will eventually feature a flagship playground, local pitches, courts, tea-rooms, toilets, public art, litter bins, street furniture and other features. The development of Tully Park will, hopefully, be appropriate to the tranquil character and setting of the cluster of national monuments at its centre. The mature trees in the vicinity of the Tully Church complex will be retained in so far as possible.
