VIA JAMES STREET AND THOMAS STREET
Bow Lane West runs from Bow Bridge to James’s Street along the southern side of St Patrick’s University Hospital. Bow Bridge crosses the River Camac. Today,I did not explore Bow Lane but walked towards the Cornmarket area. The Cornmarket of Dublin was moved to Thomas Street early in the eighteenth century. According to local historians it was difficult to pass through the area because of the activities of people known as “Pluckers in” … their job was to stand in the streets, trying to entice customers into shops.
