ARBOUR HILL - STONEYBATTER

Arbour Hill is an inner city area of Dublin, on the Northside of the River Liffey, in the Dublin 7 postal district

It is not easy to describe the layout of Thor Place as it has the shape of a "Y" but all three sections connect to Swords Street. Thor Park is located between two legs of the "Y". Thor Park is for "Senior Citizens" only and I must admit that I have never seen such a restriction apply to a public park.

Here is a description that I found: "Thor Place is a prominent north inner city corner site in an area dominated by single storey artisan terraced dwellings. The site was an overlooked junction, a leftover plot formed by the convergence of two streets. There was an opportunity to repair an obvious break in the streetscape and to extend the adjoining rhythm of opes and building lines to their logical conclusion, giving this knuckle a strong presence in the area." I have no idea what "opes" means
