THE MARKET CROSS IN BLACKROCK MAIN STREET

This is known as the market cross but today it looks very different to what it did in 1905 and it would appear that parts were removed from it before it was finally moved to its current location in Main Street.

The cross dates from approximately the eighth or ninth century and was most likely used as a burial slab.
