PELLETSTOWN RAILWAY STATION 11 OCTOBER 2024
Pelletstown railway station is a relatively new station on the Western Commuter line in Dublin, Ireland. Located in the Cabra area, beside the Royal Canal, it opened on 26 September 2021. This made it the first new station to open on the Iarnród Éireann network since Oranmore railway station in 2013.
The station was built to serve the growing population in the area, and to provide better connectivity to the city centre. It is located near the 8th Lock residential quarter development, and provides easy access to Ashington Park via a pedestrian footbridge.
The origin of the name "Pelletstown" comes from the townland of the same name, which is derived from the Irish Baile Pailéid, meaning "walled town".
