THERE A RE TWO SIGMA 14MM LENS AND I HAVE ONE OF THEM

Sigma 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Art Lens for Sony E mount

This lens was designed primarily for Canon and Nikon DSLRs, but it's also available in Sony E and Leica L mount options for mirrorless cameras. It was launched back in 2017 as the world’s first lens to combine a wide viewing angle with a bright f/1.8 aperture. It's great as a general-purpose ultra-wide prime but, when shooting at f/1.8, noticeable coma and astigmatism toward the corners of the image frame can affect its performance. It's quite big and heavy, weighing in at 1,185g. The lens construction includes 16 elements in 11 groups. It has a minimum focusing distance of 0.27m.

Sigma 14mm F1.4 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E-mount

This lens is the world’s first ultra-wide-angle 14mm lens with an f/1.4 maximum aperture. It delivers 58 percent more light to the camera’s image sensor than an f/1.8 lens. It's not just for astrophotography, it’s also great for shooting landscapes, cityscapes, and architectural interiors. Despite its larger aperture, it's actually lighter and more compact than the F1.8 version, weighing in at 1,170g. The lens construction includes 19 elements in 15 groups. It has a minimum focusing distance of 0.3m.

Why a photographer might choose one over the other:

The F1.4 lens allows more light to reach the camera's sensor, which can be beneficial for low-light photography such as astrophotography. However, it's lighter and more compact, which might be more convenient for photographers who need to carry their equipment for extended periods.

The F1.8 lens, while offering a slightly smaller aperture, is actually heavier. However, it might exhibit some optical issues like coma and astigmatism when shooting at f/1.8.

The choice between these two lenses would depend on the specific needs and preferences of the photographer, including the type of photography they do, their budget, and how much equipment weight they are willing to carry. Both lenses offer excellent performance and build quality, making them great choices for photographers looking for a wide-angle lens.
