CARRIERS OF LOVE BY SARA MANEIRO REY [AT GRATTAN BRIDGE]
Love on the Liffey: Sara Maneiro Rey's New Grattan Bridge Mural
Dublin's street art scene has a vibrant new addition at Grattan Bridge. The utility box at the intersection of Ormond Quay Upper and Capel Street, a spot long familiar to Dubliners as the home of the iconic "Bang Bang" artwork, now features a striking piece titled "Carriers of Love" by Spanish artist Sara Maneiro Rey.
This new installation is part of a broader city effort to transform mundane utility boxes into public canvases, and it brings a new energy to the busy crossing.
The Artist: Sarosky
The "Carriers of Love" piece brings the distinctive style of Sara Maneiro Rey to this prominent location. While new to Grattan Bridge, this is actually the second "paint-a-box" creation for the city by the Madrid-based artist, who also works under the alias Sarosky.
Her first piece, a widely admired and powerful tribute to Dublin music legend Luke Kelly, established her as a welcome talent in the local street art scene.
Her artistic style, now seen in two locations, is immediately recognisable. It is characterised by the use of vibrant, saturated colours and bold, confident lines. She specialises in creating powerful portraits and figures, often focusing on female subjects, that seem to capture the unique spirit and energy of her models. As the title "Carriers of Love" suggests, her work often explores themes of connection and emotion. Rey frequently weaves intricate patterns and elements of nature into her compositions, lending her pieces a unique, dreamlike quality that now brightens this busy Dublin 1 location.
