The Bunker: A Flash in the Pan

The Bunker was a unique establishment that, sadly, closed its doors around three years ago. Its most striking feature was its vintage-inspired signage, seemingly created by renowned Dublin street artist, Decoy.

The sign, likely commissioned in 2020, showcased bold lettering and a design aesthetic reminiscent of the 1920s. It perfectly captured the spirit of the shop's name, evoking a sense of secrecy and intrigue.

Despite receiving excellent reviews, The Bunker's time in Blackrock was cut short. It's highly possible that the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns contributed to its closure, a fate shared by many small businesses during that difficult period.

Though The Bunker is no more, its memory lives on through this distinctive artwork. It stands as a testament to Decoy's talent and a poignant reminder of a business that, while fleeting, left a mark on the local community. It also serves as a symbol of the resilience and fragility of small businesses in the face of unforeseen challenges.
