The building itself is a stunning exemplar of the High Victorian style, showcasing strong Gothic and Tudor Revival influences. Its most striking feature is the warm, Ballochmoyle red sandstone imported from Scotland, which creates a vivid, fiery contrast against the cool tones of the typical grey Belfast sky and the pale stone of the adjacent Imperial House.
