ST MARY'S PLACE NORTH [STREET MARKINGS INDICATING A SCHOOL ZONE]
Lord Mayor Hazel Chu recently launched a trial at St Francis School and as you can see from my photographs the trial has been expanded to include more schools.
The new "school zones", demarcated by colour circles and pencil-shaped bollards , have been designed to discourage traffic and stop parents dropping off at school gates. A secondary purpose is to prevent illegal parking in the vicinity of a school.
Hazel Chu is an Irish Green Party politician and current Lord Mayor of Dublin. She is a member of Dublin City Council and is also chairperson of the Green Party, and formerly spokesperson on Enterprise. She was the first Irish-born person of Chinese descent elected to political office in Ireland [ROI].
St. Mary’s Primary School is situated in Dublin’s north inner city on Upper Dorset Street in Dublin 7 and North St. Mary's Place and I live near it. Paradise Place is a laneway behind the school. Because of its location it is a very diverse school with children from many different countries and nations.
