CANON 1DsIII

DAVID AND GOLIATH BY JAM SUTTON THE MULTI-DISCIPLINED BRITISH ARTIST

In case you are wondering the people did apologise for intruding into my photographs but as my interest is street photography I decide to leave the images as they were.

In reality I only photographed North Wall Quay rather than the whole area.

North Wall is an area east of the inner north side of Dublin, along the River Liffey. It contains the entire north side of Dublin Docklands and includes the International Financial Services Centre, Spencer Dock, and further east the main part of Dublin Port.

MOUNT JEROME CEMETERY26 AUGUST 2022

Today I experimented hoping to produce images that differed in style from what I normally publish online. I used a Canon 1Ds MkIII which is about 15 years old and I used a Voigtlander 40mm f/2.0 Ultron SL II Aspherical Lens. https://dustinabbott.net/2017/05/voigtlander-ultron-40mm-f2-sl-ii-review/

I underexposed and then processed the images through DX0 PureRAW in order to reduce noise. The resulting files were then processed using Adobe Lightroom Classic.

The name of the cemetery comes from an estate established there by the Reverend Stephen Jerome, who in 1639 was vicar of St. Kevin's Parish. At that time, Harold's Cross was part of St. Kevin's Parish. In the latter half of the 17th century, the land passed into the ownership of the Earl of Meath, who in turn leased plots to prominent Dublin families.

PARLIAMENT STREET AND NEARBY22 AUGUST 2022 VISIT

Essex Street was established in 1674, and named after Arthur Capel, the Earl of Essex and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland at the time.

Exchange Street [originally Chequer Street] Upper and Lower were named due to the fact that they led on to the Royal Exchange, now the City Hall, and were formerly known as Blind Quay Upper and Lower

Parliament Street was created in the early 1760s by the Wide Streets Commission to open up a direct route to Dublin Castle with retail buildings on either side. It was the first project to be undertaken by the Commission, created after an Act of Parliament, and was the origin of the name. The Act allowed for the land and associated houses to be purchased for £12,000 to create the new street.

DROP DEAD TWICE ON FRANCIS STREETTHIS PUB IS OUT OF ACTION BECAUSE OF A FIRE IN JULY 2022

Kelly O'Malley, one of the co-founders of Drop Dead Twice, has launched a Go Fund Me campaign in order to rebuild and reopen the popular Dublin bar, following last month's fire. I hope that the campaign is a success.

Five units of Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the fire at Drop Dead Twice on Francis Street on Monday 11th July. The emergency services were alerted by an automatic fire alarm and smoke was also seen coming from the premises at around 4.30am. According to local media and other reports a well-developed fire had taken hold on the ground floor and a full evacuation of an adjoining property was necessary.

In 2008 I inherited some money from a very distant relative who must have been very wealthy as I was able to purchase a Canon 1DsIII body plus a number of lenses. At the time I had a Canon 5D and I really liked that camera but unfortunately I never liked the 1DsIII as I had ongoing problems with Auto-Focus. It was returned a number of times for repair and the first time I was advised that there was a misalignment between the image sensor and the viewfinder/prism assembly. My problems continued but for some reason it never occurred to me that the camera might be very usable in manual mode.

Anyway, because of my problems with the 1DsIII I decided to switch over to Sony Mirrorless and that process took about five years to complete.

In 2010 I purchased a Sony α NEX-5 which was launched on 11 May 2010. This camera was not nearly as good as the Canon 5D but I really liked it so I decided to purchase a Sony NEX-7 as soon as it became available in 2011. At the same time I purchased the Sony NEX-VG10E a camcorder that came complete with an excellent 18-200mm lens which was not available on its own at the time.

It is now April 2021 and I still use the Sony NEX-7 and the VG10 but I also have the A7R, the A7RIII and the A7RIV which is my main camera and I have a large selection of G and GM lenses plus a few Voigtlander, Sigma and Zeiss Batis lenses.

Over the years I sold most of my Canon equipment but for various reasons I kept the Canon 1DsIII and a Sigma 12-24mm lens which I like and was able to use with my NEX-7 [via a Metabones adapter].

Early in 2020 I got the option to purchase a [Canon EF mount] Voigtlander pancake 40mm manual lens and when it arrived I decided to see how it would work with the Canon 1DsIII and, to be honest, I was surprised by the results.

The EOS-1Ds Mark III is a digital SLR camera body by Canon designed for professional photographers. The Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III is successor to the EOS-1Ds Mark II and was announced in August 2007.The camera features a full-frame 21.1 megapixel CMOS sensor with 14-bit analog/digital converters for a total colour depth of 16,384 tones per pixel. It features a three-inch (76 mm) LCD screen, capable of "Live View," and dual DIGIC III processors allowing it to shoot at up to five frames per second.

The EOS-1Ds features many technologies first seen in the Canon EOS-1D Mark III, such as the 63-zone exposure metering, 19 cross-type auto focus system, a 3.0" LCD with Live View mode and EOS Integrated Cleaning System.

It was discontinued in mid-2012 with the introduction of the Canon EOS-1D X, which replaced both the EOS-1Ds Mk III and the EOS-1D Mk IV.

This year the organisers will be celebrating the 35th Anniversary of Sculpture in Context and 20 years exhibiting in the Botanic Gardens.

On arrival I was surprised to see the following notice: "all kerbing, temporary or permanent is prohibited by order". It caught my attention because I did not understand what the word "kerbing" means in the context of a churchyard or graveyard. [Note: if you examine my images you will see many examples of kerbing]
ALL KERBING PROHIBITED BY ORDER
