TRIM CASTLE

Trim Castle is a Norman castle on the south bank of the River Boyne in Trim, County Meath, Ireland. With an area of 30,000 m², it is the largest Norman castle in Ireland. Over a period of 30 years, it was built by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter as the caput of the Lordship of Meath.

MILLENNIUM BRIDGE

MILLENNIUM BRIDGE

The original footbridge, sometimes referred to as the Millennium Bridge, was built in the early 2000s. It was a wooden structure that provided a vital pedestrian link between the town and the Porchfields, a popular recreational area near the castle.

However, in August 2022, the bridge was deemed unsafe due to structural damage and was subsequently removed. This caused temporary disruption to access to the Porchfields, especially during the tourist season.
