PHOTOGRAPHED 17 MAY 2008
I used the LUAS to travel to Tallaght in May 2008 not long before M&S opened to the public at Tallaght Cross (19 July 2008). I had lunch at Captain Americas which opened its doors in 2007 and with seating on two floors for over 200 people and was the largest of all the branches. According to Google Maps and Yelp the restaurant at Tallaght Cross is no longer operational.
In August 2013 MARKS & SPENCER announced that it will close four stores in Ireland with the loss of 180 jobs. The four stores were in Mullingar, Tallaght, Dun Laoghaire, and Naas.
In April 2020, with the parent company going into administration, it was announced that Debenhams Ireland stores—which were already temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—would be permanently closed.
