PROSPECT HILL APARTMENT COMPLEX FINGLAS

People not familiar with North Dublin may have used Finglas Road because Glasnevin Cemetery is at the Glasnevin end of the road and it is a main artery leading out of the city centre to the M50.

This complex, perched on top of a hill at the junction of the Finglas Road and Tolka Valley Road, was not here the last time I visited the area and what immediately caught my attention today was the sculpture of a triangular prism at the top of a long series of steps. At the top of the steps is what could be described as large open space, overlooked by balconies.

My understanding is that the complex, which has a complicated history, consists of 469 apartments in 10 blocks. There are 150 affordable homes and 35 senior citizens’ apartments, in the complex. There have been issues relating to 58 social housing units which remained unoccupied for an extended period of time and I do not know if the problems have been resolved

Directly across from the Prospect Hill site is a large new development called Premier Square and, of course, I photographed it as well.
