ST JOSEPH'S PARISH CHURCH [SUMMERHILL ROAD GLASTHULE]

Until today I did not know that the church was located on Summerhill Road as I had believed that the street was named Glasthule Road.

St Joseph’s Church in Glasthule, built in French gothic-revival style, was designed by ecclesiastical architects Pugin and Ashlin in 1869. According to a friend, who lives nearby, the church was supposed to have a spire but funding was not available at the time.

The Rose Window in thechurch is over 100 years old. This beautiful window shines into the church over the organ and choir loft.

The Parish of Glasthule serves the areas of Glasthule, Sandycove and parts of Glenageary and Dun Laoghaire. The parish is bounded by the shore of Dublin Bay to the North, Park Road and Lower Glenageary Road to the West, Upper Glenageary road to the South and Barnhill Road and Castle Park road to the east.
