MERRION STRAND IS NOW A BADLY POLLUTED BEACH

This 0.7 kilometre long beach is at the railway crossing known as Merrion Gates and it is known as Merrion Strand and my understanding is that it is unsuitable for swimming. It may have been my imagination but it felt polluted when I visited and according to some reports that I have seen the source of the problems come from the Elm Park and Trimleston streams.

BRIDGES AND LAKES IN BUSHY PARK

I have never been able to decide if there are three distinct lakes or one lake divided into three sections by walls and waterfalls but there are two separate bridges. To the best of my knowledge, the water for the lake(s) is fed from an underground supply and flows downhill [of course] in the same direction as the River Dodder.

OLD PUNCH BOWL BAR IN BOOTERSTOWN

Back in March 2022 this famous pub was put on the market as the O'Rorke [maybe O'Rourke] family were retiring from the trade after 40 years. To the best of my knowledge it was known as the Punch Bowl until 1996 when it was sold by Ken Featherstone who had acquired the Victor Hotel.
