GRANGEGORMAN CLOCKTOWER

SORRY FOR THE DELAY

Originally built in 1814 for the Richmond Penitentiary, this iconic tower is one of the most well-known of the 11 protected structures on the Grangegorman site. It is scheduled to be used as academic space for the College of Engineering & Built Environment. A proposed green area – the Cultural Garden, will be placed directly opposite the Clock Tower as a place of celebration and commemoration of this historic building.
The building underwent stabilisation work in  2014 to stem the on-going degradation and it now in use as the offices for the GDA.
