ALEC THE GOOSE BY GORDON MUIR

‘Alec the Goose And Friend’ - A sculpture by Gordon Muir, outside St George’s Market [Belfast]

Like the Manneken-Pis in Brussels this is much smaller than you expect it to be.

It would appear that some repair work is required.

Alec the Goose was a popular goose at St. Georges Market in Belfast. During his short life in the 1920s, he was a regular visitor to the Market, belonging to a local poultry vendor. It is claimed that he even walked the schoolchildren to school. In 1926 Alec was hit by a lorry and died as a result.
