DUBLIN MARATHON 2015 - PHOTOGRAPHED BY WILLIAM MURPHY
Almost 11,000 Irish and 4,500 international competitors - representing 62 nationalities - took part in the event. Alemu Gemechu of Ethiopia won the marathon, with a time of two hours and 14 minutes. Nataliya Lehonkova from Ukraine won the women's race in a time of two hours and 31 minutes. Patrick Monahan from Naas, Co Kildare, won the wheelchair race, with a time of one hour and 43 minutes.
Every year I try to photograph the Dublin Marathon and this year was no different. However, things did not go according to plan. First thing that happened was that I lost my flash cards and then I discovered that I had brought the wrong lens so I had to shoot in cropped mode. But worst of all I arrived too late to photograph the winner.
Due to a lack of time and resources I will not devote any time to identifying the runners featured in my photographs. I may do so at a later date.
