Many years ago I shared a table in a restaurant with members of Legs & Co. For those of you who did not follow Tops Of The Pops Legs & Co. were a dance troupe created in 1976 for the BBC's weekly music programme, performing over three hundred times on this show by the time of their last performance in 1981. I think that it was 1980 when I met them.
Over the last two weeks I have used four different lenses to photograph the Sculpture In Context exhibition in the Botanic Gardens. Today it was the turn of the Sony 35mm 1.4 lens and in my opinion it proved to be the best of the four.
According to the majority reviewers the FE 35mm f1.4’s performance is excellent and ranks as the second best FE-mount lens [apparently the 55mm 1.8, which I also have, is considered to be the best] Sharpness and Transmission results are particularly strong. However, less expensive FE-mount zoom lenses that also cover 35mm are available and they might be a better option. A few reviewers claim that the inexpensive Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 FE is sharper has less distorted, is smaller and lighter. It's a much better lens for most uses for less than half the price.
