Next week there is a Street Art festival in Waterford and I plan to be there for most of the week. Based on past experience I decided that I needed a wide-angle zoom. The Sony 16-35 GM was at Euro 2500 too expensive and the Sony 12-24 f/4 was also too expensive at Euro 1900. Recently Tamron announced a 17-28 f2.8 which was not exactly what I wanted but with a retail price of about Euro 1000 i could live with it assuming that I had it before going to Waterford unfortunately I discovered that it might be available until the end of September. The other option was a new Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 but it would be heavy and could cost Euro 1,600 but it was not available.
I decided that my only option was to bring me Sigma 14mm f1.8 but it is a monster and I have had problems with it and lens flare is an issue. I could also bring a Sony 24-70 GM and a Batis 135.
Late in the day I discovered that a brand new Sony 12-24 f/4 was available at Euro 1,249 and within about an hour I had it in my hands. I have cancelled to Tamron order.
