CLOCK ON AMELIA STREET [BRUNSWICK STREET] IN BELFAST

In the case of Belfast I find it more than a little difficult to obtain information relating to many of the things that I photograph. The only information that I could get about this clock was the description “Ornamental Clock: Brunswick Street Close To Amelia Street”. Myself, I would describe the clock as being located on Amelia Street near Blackstaff Square.

Amelia Street was once at the heart of Belfast’s red light district. This fact is commemorated by well known poet Frank Ormsby in ‘Amelia Street’ which describes the area as ‘the sum of lasting miseries’.

If you visit Amelia Street watch out for “Regeneration” a sculpture by Anna Cheyne.
