NOT LONG AFTER PHOTOGRAPHING THIS SCULPTURE THE Q3 CRASHED

WARRIOR BY AYELET LALOR AT SCULPTURE IN CONTEXT SEPTEMBER 2025 [I USED A LEICA Q3]

Today at Sculpture in Context (September 2025), I had the opportunity to photograph "Warrior," a piece by the distinguished Irish sculptor Ayelet Lalor. However, the shoot was marred by technical difficulties: the Leica Q3 I was using performed surprisingly poorly, failing to meet the standard set by my Sony AI MkII. The Q3 crashed three times, immediately switching into video mode without being prompted. My primary line of investigation is a potentially faulty SD card, which would be the first card failure I've experienced in a decade.

Despite the technical frustrations, the artwork itself was compelling. Lalor, who works from her Dublin base, is renowned for her evocative, stylised explorations of the female form. She has forged a significant career mastering diverse materials like ceramics, bronze, and concrete. Her portfolio, ranging from intimate figures to commanding outdoor installations, serves as a testament to her enduring fascination with the strength, grace, and inner world of women.
