SCULPTURE IN CONTEXT IS THE MAJOR EVENT THIS MONTH

Yesterday [2 September 2023] I visited the Sculpture In Context exhibition in order to preview the sculptures in advance of the official opening and I was fairly pleased with the results produced by my Canon 5DIII so today I decided to visit again with a Sigma DP3 Quattro Camera which could be as "the worst of cameras and the best of cameras". It has many problems and at best it is difficult to use especially in low light.

The Sigma DP3 Quattro is a digital compact camera with a fixed 50mm f/2.8 lens (equivalent to 75mm on a 35mm camera). It was announced in 2012 and is no longer in production. However, it is still a popular camera among photographers who value image quality.

The DP3 Quattro uses a Foveon X3 direct image sensor, which captures colour information at each layer of the sensor. This results in greater detail and colour accuracy than traditional CMOS or CCD sensors. The sensor also has a resolution of 29.2 megapixels, which is significantly higher than other current compact cameras.

The Sigma DP3 Quattro does have autofocus. It uses a contrast-detection autofocus system, which is not as fast as phase-detection autofocus systems found in most other cameras. However, it is still capable of focusing on subjects quickly and accurately in good lighting conditions.

The DP3 Quattro has 9 autofocus points, which you can select manually. You can also use the camera's face detection autofocus system to automatically focus on faces.

If you are shooting in low light, the DP3 Quattro's autofocus system may struggle to focus. In this case, you may want to use manual focus or switch to a higher ISO setting.

Overall, the Sigma DP3 Quattro's autofocus system is not the best, but it is still capable of taking sharp photos most of the time.
