AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PARK
My exploration of Mill Lane led me past Palmerstown FC. Initially, locked gates suggested the facility was exclusively for club use. However, further along, I discovered an open entrance within a stone wall. Venturing inside, I encountered a space that could have been either a football practice area or a public park. A chance encounter with a friendly local cleared up the confusion – this was indeed a public park, one she regularly enjoyed with her dogs.
While the park isn’t directly connected to Palmerstown FC, a bit of background helps things fall into place:
Palmerstown FC: This football club is located in Palmerstown, Dublin 10.
Glenaulin Park: Situated on Glenaulin Green, this is where Palmerstown FC plays its home matches. This locally-managed park with two football pitches is open to the public.
Natural Beauty: The area around Mill Lane, where Palmerstown FC is located, is appreciated for its scenery and feels almost like a fairytale with its river, wildlife, ancient churchyard, quaint buildings, and even roaming horses.
So, the takeaway is that while Palmerstown FC is based in the Mill Lane area, it has its dedicated pitch within the separate and publicly accessible Glenaulin Park.
