PHOTOGRAPHED 26 MARCH 2023
This was an excellent location for street art and murals but the quality and selection is not as good as it was.
I have seen this lane described as being a legal location for street art and it is implied that it is legal because property owners have given consent. However, my understanding is that property owners cannot give consent without planning permission.

THE CRECHE CLOSED IN AUGUST 2017
This photograph was taken in July 2020 and not long after the building became a Covid test centre and the walls were painted white.
I first photographed this building in 2012 after it been dramatically transformed into an eye-opening colour jigsaw puzzle. St Marys creche was transformed by the Dulux team for the Let’s Colour project.
St Mary’s Early Years Education and Care Service operated a community crèche at City Quay closed in August 2017 to facility remedial works in the building featured in my photograph. This resulted in 50 families looking for alternative childcare.
St Marys Creche and Pre-School, located on the City Quay in Dublin, has been dramatically transformed into an eye-opening colour jigsaw puzzle. St Marys creche was transformed by the Dulux team for the Let’s Colour project. Located in Dublin city centre, it has already become an iconic building in the city and the children were delighted with the colourful transformation made to their pre-school.

I DECIDED TO CLOSE THE DOOR
The artwork has changed since my last visit. When I last photographed it featured a portrait of Oscar Wilde and the famous quote “I Have Nothing To Declare But My Genius”. Between 2016 and 2018 it featured a portrait of Oscar Wilde done in the style of an old tarot card and it featured the the depiction of one of Wilde’d most famous quotes “We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars.” Showing the gutter under Wilde’s chair and the stars above his head.
The current artwork is On The Street by Carolina Medina a Chilean artist and a graduate of DID graphic design.
With the door open the electronics and paperwork was exposed to the elements and other problems so I decided to close the door but there was no way for me to lock it.
