THE HUNGRY TREE

The "Hungry Tree" at King's Inns is a London plane tree in Dublin, famous for appearing to "eat" a cast-iron bench that was placed too close to its trunk. The tree, estimated to be about 80 years old, has gradually grown around the 19th-century bench, causing the bark to engulf parts of it, leading to the nickname. This natural phenomenon is located on the grounds of the King's Inns, Ireland's oldest law school, and is a popular and quirky photo spot accessible to the public.
