WHY THE FLAGS
MORE HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS [BUT WHY THE YELLOW AND BLUE BUNTING]
Over the last few days, after I published some photographs featuring Halloween decorations, a few followers asked why so many of them also featured blue and yellow bunting or flags.
My first thought was that it must be related to support for Ukraine, but that did not seem to make much sense in the context of Halloween.
However, the real reason turned out to be much more local. My attention was drawn to the fact that the GAA club Na Fianna (CLG Na Fianna) is based in Glasnevin. Their clubhouse and main pitches are located on St. Mobhi Road, which is precisely in the Glasnevin/Drumcondra area where I was photographing.
As it happens, I was in the absolute heartland of the club's support during the exact week they won the Dublin Senior Hurling Championship. This is why the new "yellow and blue" bunting was so densely concentrated there.
