THE BEST NIGHT EVER BY BOB QUINN AT THE BOTANIC GARDENS [SHOT WITH A SONY FE 100MM F2.8 MACRO OSS GM]
My new FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS Sony Lens arrived yesterday, 7 November 2025, and I took it to the National Botanic Gardens to photograph what I consider the best sculpture there: 'Best Night Ever' by Bob Quinn.
Born in 1948, Bob Quinn enjoyed a long career in the Irish advertising business as a commercial artist, designer, and head of a successful design and production company. He now works full-time as a sculptor in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
There are two copies of this sculpture: this one in the Botanic Gardens and a second in City West. Unfortunately, the last time I tried to photograph the one in City West, I was informed by security—who shadowed me for about fifteen minutes—that I was on private property and photography was prohibited. I was invited to leave immediately. My policy is not to argue, and I had already photographed everything of interest.
👨🎨 Artist Status and Recent Work
The sculptor Bob Quinn (born 1948) is still alive and highly active.
He continues to work from his studio in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, and is featured in several prominent Irish galleries. He is prolific, and his work remains very current.
Recent Exhibitions: He was recently featured in group exhibitions at Gormleys Fine Art in Dublin (October-November 2023) and Belfast (December 2023 - January 2024).
Recent Sculptures: Gallery listings show numerous recent bronze works completed in 2023 and 2024, including pieces such as "All's Well" (2024), "What a Day" (2024), "Into the Blue" (2023), and "Godspeed" (2023).
'Best Night Ever': The sculpture I photographed is itself a recent work, with bronze editions listed from 2021 and 2022.
