THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME TO EXPLORE THE DONNYBROOK GREENWAY

The Donnybrook Greenway is a 480-meter section of the Dodder Greenway, a walking and cycling path along the River Dodder in Dublin. It runs between Herbert Park and Donnybrook Road at Anglesea Bridge.

The Donnybrook Greenway was built in conjunction with flood defences along the River Dodder. This approach combines the development of essential infrastructure with the creation of amenities for the community, promoting active travel and climate action.

Length: The greenway spans 480 meters.
Width: It’s a shared greenway with a width of 4 meters.
Location: Running along the west side of the River Dodder, it’s situated at the rear of Donnybrook Rugby Stadium.
Entry/Exit Points: There are two access points: one beside Anglesey Bridge and the other near the entrance to Herbert Park at Eglinton Terrace.
Purpose: Besides promoting active travel, the greenway also acts as a flood barrier. It’s the final section of flood defense to be built along this stretch of the River Dodder.
Funding: The project is funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) and the Office of Public Works (OPW).
Planning Approval: The project received planning approval in 2017.
Design: The main contractor for this project is Clonmel Enterprises Limited, with design by Arup Consulting Engineers.
