ABOUT THE MURAL AND THE ARTIST

30 Manor Street is currently home to a mural by Dublin-based artist Sorcha O'Higgins. This mural, along with another one by French artist Claire Prouvost located beside Rea auctioneers, is part of a larger street art initiative in Stoneybatter.

Sorcha O'Higgins' mural at 30 Manor Street, known as "The Urban Living Room", was created in June 2021 and is a vibrant depiction of a colourful living room scene. Unfortunately, it has been targeted by graffiti in the past, but the Dublin City Council has restored it to its original glory.

This mural, along with others at Viking Place, Halliday Road, and the Scout building on Ben Edair Road, represents a growing network of signage and murals that are adding a unique artistic flair to the Stoneybatter neighbourhood. They are a testament to the area's evolving identity and its embrace of public art.

It's worth noting that 30 Manor Street itself, with its history of dereliction and pigeon infestation, stands in stark contrast to the vibrant mural that adorns its facade. The juxtaposition of urban decay and artistic expression is a powerful symbol of the ongoing changes and challenges faced by this historic Dublin neighbourhood.
