THIS IS LOCATED IN BALLSBRIDGE NEAR HERBERT PARK

This Celtic Cross memorial on Elgin Road in Dublin is a memorial to the Third Battalion of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) who fought in the 1916 Easter Rising. The memorial is located near the U.S. Embassy and the British Embassy.

The memorial was unveiled by Éamon de Valera in 1973 and features a stone Celtic cross on an oblong plinth with a black marble panel at the base. The inscription on the panel reads:

"In memory of the officers and men of the 3rd Battalion Dublin Brigade who gave their lives for the cause of Irish freedom 1916-1921."

The memorial has been a source of some controversy due to its location near the U.S. and British embassies. However, it is a significant landmark for those who remember and honour the Irish struggle for independence.
