A BIT ABOUT THE AREA
Leeson Street is a historic thoroughfare located near central Dublin, Ireland. It is divided into two parts by the Grand Canal:
Lower Leeson Street: Situated in Dublin 2, north of the canal, it connects to St. Stephen's Green and features prominent buildings like the Ombudsman's office and various embassies.
Upper Leeson Street: Located in Dublin 4, south of the canal, it is known for its nightlife with numerous bars and nightclubs.
The street boasts beautiful Georgian architecture, with some buildings dating back to the 18th century. It is also home to the Catholic University School [where I went to school] and was once the residence of broadcaster Gerry Ryan. In the past, the canal area was associated with streetwalkers, but the area has since evolved.
Overall, Leeson Street offers a mix of history, culture, nightlife, and modern amenities, making it a diverse and dynamic part of Dublin.
