ABOUT THIS BUILDING

IT HAS TAKEN ME MANY YEARS TO DISCOVER THAT THIS WAS A MUSEUM

The Irish Labour History Museum, once housed in the aforementioned redbrick building on Meeting House Lane, is no longer at that location. It has relocated to Beggars Bush Barracks in Haddington Road, Dublin 4.

The museum, operated by the Irish Labour History Society (ILHS), is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Irish working class and its organisations. Its collection includes a wide array of artefacts, documents, and photographs that illustrate the struggles and achievements of workers throughout Irish history. The museum also hosts regular exhibitions, talks, and events related to labour history and social justice issues.

The ILHS was founded in 1973 and has been instrumental in collecting and preserving materials related to Irish labour history. The museum was opened in 1990 and has since become an important resource for researchers, students, and anyone interested in learning about the role of workers in shaping Irish society.

Despite the move from its original location on Meeting House Lane, the Irish Labour History Museum continues to play a vital role in preserving and promoting the rich legacy of the Irish labour movement.
