THE AURORA CAMPBELL MURAL

I had hoped to photograph the earlier mural by David Maker, but upon arriving near the Irish Museum of Time, I discovered that much of the wall had been overpainted. I decided to return at regular intervals to document the new piece taking shape. On Thursday night, I had the opportunity to chat with the visiting Australian artist, Aurora Campbell. She was completely exhausted after days on the lift but noted that the work was largely complete, though she was still tweaking the blue tones and planned to return in the morning to make final adjustments. David Maker’s original mural was dominated by deep blues, and she appeared to have incorporated and retained a section featuring nautical elements—an intriguing dialogue between the two artists across the same wall.

David Maker’s Mural Date: David Maker’s maritime-themed mural was painted as part of the Waterford Walls / Street Art Ink Floating Voices initiative in 2021–2022, rather than 2025.

Location: The wall sits in the historic Viking Triangle near Greyfriars and the Irish Museum of Time (Fitzgerald Power building).
