TEMPORARY KINETIC SOUND AND LIGHT INSTALLATION
I photographed this installation back in August 2021 but did not publish the photographs as I was unable to identify the art or the artist and as I have given up the search I am now publishing them.
I used a Sony A7RIV and a Sony FE 70-200MM Lens.
Temporary Kinetic Sound & Light Installation — People’s Park, Waterford
Set against the mature tree canopy of the People’s Park in Waterford, this striking kinetic installation was captured in August 2021 during the annual summer street arts programme. Designed as a temporary outdoor intervention, the piece reinterprets natural botanical forms through an industrial, architectural lens.
Sculptural Geometry: Clusters of sprung, flexible stainless-steel stems emerge from weighted baseplates, echoing the organic swaying habit of tall meadow grasses and seedheads.
Perforated Luminaires: Each rod is capped with a geometric cube fabricated from perforated sheet metal. These housings conceal integrated lighting and acoustic elements, designed to project dappled light patterns and ambient soundscapes across the lawn as dusk falls.
Environmental Interaction: Responsive to ambient wind currents and pedestrian movement, the installation turned open municipal green space into an evolving sensory landscape.
