PURPLE PALACE OR HOUSE OF SHAME

This is the famous "Purple Palace" [ I have also heard of it being referred to as the ‘pink palace’] on Burlington Road, one of the many homes of the ex-emperor of Irish property developers, Johnny Ronan. Unfortunately Johnny had to sell and Khalid Nasser Rashed Lootah, now lives here.

A few days ago i read in the Irish Times that the United Arab Emirates recalled its ambassador to Ireland, following a ruling from the Employment Appeals Tribunal.

Three women from the Philippines, who worked for the ambassador, were awarded €80,000 each last in November after they told the tribunal they worked 15 hour days, seven days a week for less than €2 an hour.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it takes the matter seriously, and has recalled Khalid Nasser Rashid Lootah while it investigates the issue further.

Note: Ireland recognised the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 1974. In the same year Ireland established diplomatic relations with the UAE on a non-residential basis. In October 2009 Ireland opened its Embassy in the UAE. The UAE established its Embassy in Ireland in February 2010.
