If you wish to annoy many from Dun Laoghaire all you need say is that you like the new library. Myself, I actually like it but I have published a few photographs so that you can decided for yourself.
The building currently under construction in Dún Laoghaire is not just a library. It will be the Central Library for the County of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and will also be home to a new Cultural Centre.
The materials used for the building were selected to match those already in use in the town. The building is generally clad in granite similar to the original Dalkey granite used in the walls, piers and historic structures in the area. The façade along Haigh Terrace is composed of red brick set within bands of stone, similar to Victorian buildings in the town including the Carnegie Library.
The Central Library & Cultural Centre will offer a range of facilities across four public floors
