ABOUT THIS PAINT-A-BOX STREET ART CONSISTING OF THREE CABINETS

It has taken me a long time to discover who is responsible for the new street art at Blackhall Place that replaced the artwork by Rebecca Walsh.

The artwork was created as part of a community project called "Paint-a-Box," which aimed to brighten up the area and promote creativity. Local artists and community members were involved in painting the electrical boxes on the street with colourful and vibrant designs.

The designs vary, but often include themes related to law, justice, equality, and the local community. Some of the boxes feature portraits of famous legal figures, while others depict abstract patterns or scenes from Dublin life.

The paint-a-box art has been well-received by the local community and visitors alike, adding a touch of colour and character to the area. It has also become a popular spot for photos and social media posts.

If you're interested in seeing the paint-a-box art at Blackhall Place, you can find it just outside the Law Society building, which is located at the end of the street. It's a short walk from the city centre and easily accessible by public transportation.

Note: Paint-A-Box project at Blackhall Place outside the Law Society is distinct from the Dublin Canvas programme.

While both initiatives aim to brighten up public spaces through street art, they are separate projects with different organisers and focuses.

Paint-A-Box: This is a smaller, localised project focused on painting the electrical boxes on Blackhall Place. It was initiated by the local community and artists, with a specific emphasis on themes related to law and justice.
Dublin Canvas: This is a larger, city-wide initiative that transforms traffic light control boxes into works of art. It is organised by Dublin City Council and invites artists from all backgrounds to participate. The themes and styles of the artwork are more diverse and reflect the wider interests of the city's communities.
Although they are distinct, both Paint-A-Box and Dublin Canvas contribute to Dublin's vibrant street art scene and demonstrate the power of art to transform public spaces.
